Fourth Annual Huddersfield Jazz Guitar Festival

This year the HJGS festival will be held on the 15th-17th June 2018

This is the fourth annual jazz guitar festival held by the Huddersfield Jazz Guitar Society. We have rebranded the festival to The Four on Six Festival. This of course refers to four fingers on six strings, a prerequisite of guitar playing but it is also the name of a rather famous piece by the incredible guitarist Wes Montgomery.

This year our Saturday night concert is dedicated to Wes. He died 50 years ago on the 15th June 1968 and it seemed fitting to pay tribute to such an important jazz musician. Another change this year is we taking events out across Huddersfield. We are still hosting some concerts at our beloved Rat and Ratchet but only on the Saturday afternoon. The Jim Mullen workshop and Saturday and Sunday events are being held at Small Seeds and the Friday evening concert is at The Corner. We also have concerts held at a number of different venues around the town on the Saturday afternoon.

There are a couple of events other held in conjunction to the festival. Wednesday night at the Head of Steam sees The Charlie Christian Collective returning as well as guitarists Sam Dunn and Derrick Harris. Thursday night we are co-hosting an event at The Corner called HJGS @ the Big Town Social. This will feature guitarist Jon Mambo, an excellent Latin player as well as Dan Greenwood and Sonny Johns who will host an open mic so bring down your guitar and sit in.

On behalf of everyone organising the festival, thank you for your support and I hope you enjoy it
